Everton: Fans aren’t getting carried away over Carlo Ancelotti’s record after eight games in charge

Plenty of Everton fans have refused to get carried away despite the newly-appointed manager Carlo Ancelotti breaking a club record.

The three-time winning Champions League manager has had a strong start to life at Goodison Park after taking the permanent hot seat from previous boss Marco Silva, who was dismissed from the role in December. After the Toffees were lingering in the relegation zone before Christmas, the Italian has turned their fortunes around with five victories, two draws and just one defeat in the Premier League.

EFC Statto revealed on Twitter (via @EFC_Statto) that Ancelotti was the first manager since the war to accumulate the most amount of points from the first eight games, beating Ronald Koeman and Roberto Martinez who both got 15 points. Despite this, supporters were not getting ahead of themselves and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he does not like seeing stats such as this, while another described it as “fundamentally meaningless”.
