Much has been made of Marco Silva’s struggles at Everton this season, but that was always going to be the case. The Portuguese left Watford under controversial circumstances, whilst he spent so much money over the summer on a number of big names, like Richaralison.
So, if he was anything other than perfect, Silva was always going to face some backlash.
Unfortunately for him, though, he’s been far from perfect. Indeed, he’s been pretty poor, and he’s fallen well below expectations. Everton are struggling in the Premier League, and whilst Silva looked to be the man to play stylish football and achieve results, in reality, things have been quite different.
It’s no surprise, then, that Everton are apparently considering alternatives, but one of the men they’ve identified would be a bit of a shock. Indeed, according to the Mirror, Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa is on the shortlist of potential replacements for Everton.
The former Argentina boss has impressed in the Championship this season, but it’s fair to say a move to Goodison Park would be a huge shock for fans. He’s controversial and fiery, and the short-termism that has dominated his career thus far wouldn’t be a good fit at Everton.
Lots of Everton supporters have responded to the news online, and it’s fair to say that there’s not a lot of positivity floating about. Indeed, most simply don’t believe the report, whilst others would hate for it to come to fruition. See below:
