It’s been a tough couple of weeks for Everton, with a terrible run of form coinciding with a horror injury to midfield star Andre Gomes, and now some fans want a new club captain following Seamus Coleman’s handling of the situation.
The defender reportedly went to console Tottenham winger Son Heung-min after his sending off following the challenge on Gomes, with a section of supporters not taking kindly to the gesture.
As a result, fans have debated whether or not the Irishman is fit to wear the captain’s armband for the coming season – with many names popping up to replace him in the role.
The likes of Lucas Digne, Yerry Mina, Fabian Delph, Tom Davies and Jordan Pickford have been suggested as potential candidates to step into the captain’s slot – with some supporters even arguing they don’t have any leaders at all.
After a run of five losses in seven games, the Goodison Park faithful are understandably frustrated, with very limited time to regain form and potentially challenge for Europe.
Here’s how they debated the club captaincy…
we dont have a single leader in that squad – no one fit to be captain and there lies the problem.

Part of me thinks it could be the making of Pickford. He’s not afraid to give a rollicking and it would help, encourage, and demand a new maturity
