Everton fans have been pleading with the club to hand rising star Lewis Gibson a new contract after he shined during the U23s’ 3-3 draw against Arsenal on Monday.
The 19-year-old got himself on the scoresheet alongside Ellis Simms who scored a brace ensured that the young Toffees secured a point and moved level on points with Spurs in 7th place with a game in hand. Gibson’s contract expires in the summer with Championship side Ipswich Town believed to be very interested in the young centre-back, as per East Anglian Daily Times.

Labelled as one of the surprise packages of pre-season by the Liverpool Echo, Gibson was brought in from Newcastle in 2017 after turning down offers from Spurs, Manchester City and Southampton, as per Toffeeweb. The current campaign has been largely disrupted by surgery on his ankle that he successfully underwent on his ankle and Monday’s clash with the young Gunners’ was his first game back. As a result, supporters are keen for Gibson to put pen to paper on a new deal and extend his stay on Merseyside.
