A clip of a superb free-kick from Leighton Baines against Swansea in 2012 is doing the rounds on Twitter and Everton fans are stopping to appreciate their veteran.
Following the stunning set-piece from Baines from outside the box, Everton went on to beat the Swans 2-0 and confirmed their first away win in six matches.
The now 35-year-old has been with the Merseyside outfit since 2007, after completing a move from boyhood club Wigan for £6.75million (via Transfermarkt). In his 13 years with the club, Baines has scored 39 goals and assisted 67 in a total of 417 appearances (also Transfermarkt), in this time he has become a fan favourite and as such, supporters are pleading him to sign another contract and stay for at least another year.
The Toffees are marvelling at the left-back’s ‘boss’ free-kick against Swansea, with one fan branding him a ‘different class’. Another fan has asked the club to give Baines a ‘lifelong contract’.

We’ve not replaced that free kick prowess since. Not Siggy. Not Lucas Digne. Neither could touch Bainsey in his prime.
