Everton: Fans heap praise on Chris Wilder after admitting Toffees are his second favourite team

Plenty of Everton fans have praised Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder after revealing that he has a soft spot for the Toffees.

The 52-year-old is currently managing his boyhood club and has had a wonderful start to life in the Premier League, guiding his side to 6th in the table and just five points behind Chelsea in 4th. Wilder has been praised for his innovative tactical approach in Sheffield United’s first season back in the top flight, employing overlapping centre-backs, a ploy that has attracted a lot of attention this season, as per BBC Sport.

Speaking to Sheffield United’s One Of Our Own podcast (cited by the Liverpool Echo), the boss was asked who his other favourite team was – and Everton was his immediate response. He spoke of his time as an apprentice at Southampton and mentioned his family were all Liverpool fans, yet he still appreciated Howard Kendall’s side of the 80s and was in awe of their togetherness. Supporters were delighted with Wilder’s comments and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan believed that he would be the club’s next manager after Carlo Ancelotti.
