Plenty of Everton fans are gushing over a comment from Carlo Ancelotti about Dominic Calvert-Lewin, after the youngster continued his fine form against Newcastle.
At 22, Calvert-Lewin is reaching the age where he can no longer fall back on being a young striker learning his craft and simply must start adding the goals to his performances.
That’s exactly what he’s done since the departure of Marco Silva, scoring five times in his last five Premier League matches.
He has always shown glimpses of being an excellent target man, linking up play and doing the hard work for his team up front, but now he is starting to add what every top forward has in the shape of goals.
The former Sheffield United youngster was sensational in the 2-1 win at Newcastle, scoring an 8.87 out of 10 rating on Whoscored thanks to his brace and incredible five key passes.
And Ancelotti was understandably full of praise for his number nine, leading fans to flock to Twitter…
That partially explains the upturn in form. Probably getting lots of positive praise from Dunc and Ancelloti and especially Carlo saying it has got to light a fire somewhere in Dom.
