The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news (posted on their official Twitter account) that their 28-year-old playmaker, Gylfi Sigurdsson, is to see a specialist tonight to determine a timeframe for recovery from the knee injury he sustained during Everton’s 2-0 win over Brighton at Goodison Park.
Big Sam’s 2-0 win over Brighton on Saturday came at a pretty heavy cost for the Toffees. Everton’s influential Icelandic midfielder completed the full 90 minutes on Saturday, despite needing treatment midway through the first half, and now it seems Sigurdsson will be out for a number of weeks with a knee problem. Everton fans won’t be happy with Allardyce’s decision to leave the Icelandic international on the pitch as they look for a strong finish to the season.
The injury to Sigurdsson could see Dutch international, Davy Klaassen, given a return to the first team as the midfielder has been somewhat exiled under Big Sam, making his first appearance since September when he came off the bench on Saturday. The Toffees propping our bar up are keen to see Klaassen given a run out in the first team and with a visit to struggling Stoke on the weekend, it could be a perfect opportunity to give the former Ajax man a chance.
With that in mind, here’s our resident Bluenoses’ verdict on Sigurdsson’s injury:

Wish him a speedy recovery. Maybe a chance for Klaassen to be used as a number 10.
