It is set to be a busy end to the transfer window for Everton and manager Marco Silva with the Portuguese coach still in the market for a central defender.
As well as a centre-back (via the Guardian), though, Silva is keen to bring in another forward to complement the recent addition of Richarlison in attack.
And the former Watford man could be set to line up alongside compatriot Bernard.
According to the Daily Mail, Bernard is close to joining Everton on a free transfer subject to passing a medical and gaining a work permit.
Bernard, who is valued at £14.4m by Transfermarkt, left Shakhtar Donetsk last month after his contract expired and has attracted interest from multiple clubs across Europe (via Sky Sports).
But it is Everton who have appeared to have won the race for a player who will drastically improve their attack.
Bernard is an upgrade on Yannick Bolasie and a more technically gifted player than Theo Walcott.
