Everton: Fans open to signing Liverpool target Weston McKennie; Newcastle United also interested

Lots of Everton fans are open to the possible signing of Weston McKennie as CBS Sports (via The Gwladys Street) have reported that the Merseyside club are interested in signing him in the upcoming summer transfer window.

As per the outlet, the central midfield player is expected to leave FC Schalke 04 as the German club have apparently been forced to sale due to the financial troubles caused by the global pandemic outbreak.

However, the Goodison Park faithful will face competition from bitter rivals Liverpool and Newcastle United for his signature.

The £18 million-valued ace scored three goals and made one assist in 32 games in all competitions in the 2019/20 season, while also showing his versatility by playing in four different roles, according to Transfermarkt.

Indeed, McKennie also boasts some better stats than the likes of Fabian Delph, Tom Davies and Andre Gomes have recorded in the Premier League so far in this campaign, as the 21-year old has averaged more interceptions, clearances, blocks, shots and key passes per league game (via Whoscored).

McKennie’s superior stats both in defensive and attacking areas, combined with his versatility and relatively young age, may make the American international a valuable asset to Carlo Ancelotti’s team should they decide to sign him.

These EFC supporters were open to the possibility of signing the midfielder on Twitter:

we’re a big club but we’re not good enough at the moment, he would seriously help though and i would love him at everton
