Everton: Fans praise Ben Godfrey as he comments on playing right-back

Many Everton fans have praised Ben Godfrey as he spoke to evertonfc.com about playing right-back as cover for Seamus Coleman.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the England under-21 international said: “Right-back is a bit different but, as I said when I came to the Club, I am ready to play in any position and give it 100 per cent.”

Indeed, Godfrey had to replace Coleman in the Merseyside derby last weekend as the Republic of Ireland international came off injured in the first half.

While he is primarily a central defender, the former Norwich City player has played in the right-back role before; and given his positive attitude, he should be able to fill in there until Coleman recovers from his injury.

It is a good opportunity for Godfrey to show the Goodison Park faithful why Carlo Ancelotti’s team bought him from the Canaries in the summer transfer window, possibly starting against Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium on Sunday.
