Everton have announced they will be refunding fans who have tickets to the five remaining home matches of the season, due to the expectation that if the campaign is to be continued it will be behind closed doors.
It’s still an uncertain time for the top flight of English football as fans remain unsure on whether the current term will continue or not. The return of the Bundesliga at the weekend only showed little promise, as EFL League Two confirmed their season was to be ended and results decided by a weighted points-per-game system (via Independent).

If the Premier League does return to action, all remaining matches will most likely be played behind closed doors and will mimic the eerie atmosphere of the empty German stadiums. With that in mind, it seems that the Toffees have taken the decision to give their fans their money back as they will be unable to attend the remaining fixtures at Goodison Park.

Everton fans have responded to the club’s statement and many are both grateful and proud that refunds are being put in place for those already with tickets to the closing games. One fan has replied saying ‘the People’s Club’ whilst another has said the gesture is ‘class as always’ from the Blues.
