Everton: Fans react as Carlo Ancelotti says Leighton Baines has not signed new deal

Lots of Everton fans have been reacting as Carlo Ancelotti has said in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Merseyside club’s game against Norwich City that Leighton Baines has still not signed a new deal.

The 35-year old will be free to leave the Toffees in the upcoming summer transfer window if he does not sign a new contract, as the Goodison Park faithful anxiously bite their nails to see what will happen.

It is perhaps safe to say that Baines has grown into a club legend with the Blues, having made a staggering 417 appearances across 13 consecutive seasons, according to Transfermarkt.

However, with the likes of Lucas Digne in his position, the Englishman may have to turn elsewhere if he still wants to play more regular first-team football.

Baines’ contract situation seems to have caused a debate between EFC supporters on Twitter, as one fan, perhaps sarcastically, claimed that he was better than Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson whilst another said that ‘he will go’ given his lack of playing time so far in the 2019/20 campaign.
