Everton: Fans react to Li Tie becoming head coach of China

Everton fans have been reacting on social media to the news that ex-Toffees midfielder Li Tie has become the head coach of the Chinese national team.

The Goodison Park cult hero made 92 appearances for his country as a player and now has been given the opportunity to manage his country after the Italian boss Marcello Lippi resigned following a 2-1 defeat to Syria.

The former China international moved to Merseyside in 2002 and played 40 times for the Blues, without scoring any goals or providing any assists during that time.

He eventually retired in 2011 where he became assistant manager for the Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande.

Supporters were delighted with the news and made their feelings clear on social media, with one fan describing him as a “hero” and a “legend”.
