Everton: Fans react to news that Crystal Palace ace James McCarthy is attracting interest from Aston Villa, Celtic, Leeds United, Newcastle United and West Ham United

Plenty of Everton fans have reacted to some transfer news concerning former ace James McCarthy as football journalist Graeme Bailey reported that Celtic have joined Aston Villa, Leeds United, Newcastle United and West Ham United in the chase for the Crystal Palace ace in the summer transfer window.

Indeed, McCarthy only left the Merseyside club last summer to join Roy Hodgson’s Eagles at Selhurst Park for just £2.97 million, which considering his market value is now more than this, perhaps suggests the Toffees should have asked for more money up front.

The central midfield player was a loyal servant at Goodison Park, playing in a total of 133 games in all competitions across six consecutive seasons, scoring six goals and making a further 10 assists, according to Transfermarkt.

However, McCarthy did have a history of injury woes while playing for the Blues, but could well be over these having played in 35 matches in all competitions in the 2019/20 season, as per the website.

One EFC supporter even went as far to say that he would have been ‘Gana’s perfect replacement’ if he stayed fit, with Idrissa Gueye making 108 appearances for them before also leaving last summer to join PSG for £27 million.
