The Everton fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are absolutely fuming about the deal, but the Toffees on Twitter are taking a slightly less turbulent approach.
Everton looked set to seal a deal for Moussa Sissoko on a number of occasions yesterday, with the French midfielder seemingly desperate to leave Newcastle.
Tottenham were reportedly priced out of a move, leaving Everton as the only horse left in the race for the Euro-2016 star.
However, towards the end of the evening Tottenham began being linked with him again – and from then on there looked set to be only one winner.
The deal for Tottenham to bring in Sissoko was announced late last night, leaving the Everton fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern absolutely devastated.
After spending the night mulling it over, they have cooled somewhat; but the Everton contingent in the Tavern are still disappointed that Sissoko didn’t end up at Goodison Park.
It is a very similar story on Twitter, with the atmosphere amongst the Everton faithful online slowly turning from anger to acceptance over the deal.
In fact, some of them have decided that they didn’t even want Sissoko in the first place…

Also have a blessing in disguise with Sissoko choosing Spurs. Had a good Euros but has hardly impressed in his 4 years at #NUFC #EFC

Not really worried about missing out on sissoko to be perfectly honest. What does worry me how many we couldn't fail to land #EFC

I honestly think we've dodged a bullet anyway with sissoko he's proven his lack of integrity and poor character by his actions already #EFC

I still reckon Sissoko was a panic bid in order to appease fans. Dodged buĺlet #efc

I'm frankly glad we missed out on Sissoko #EFC

THRILLED to wake up and find out that Spurs lost the game of chicken with Sissoko.
Much prefer Dowell and Davies. #EFC

Seems pretty unanimous amongst the Everton folk.
“A blessing in disguise” came up a few times…though our bar staff aren’t sure that they would have been so negative towards Sissoko had a deal actually gone through!
Our landlord thinks that Sissoko can expect quite the reception when he finally gets round to playing a game at Goodison Park…
Everton fans – what do you think about missing out on Sissoko? A blow or a blessing in disguise?
