A number of Everton fans have criticised Ian Darke’s view on the red card that was given to Lucas Digne against Southampton on Sunday.
As shared by Everton FC News on their Twitter page, Darke claimed that the dismissal of the France international for his foul on Kyle Walker-Peters was a ‘definite red’ and that ‘intent does not come in to those decisions’.

However, in a tweet last year about a red card given to Tottenham’s Heung Min-Son for a foul on Andre Gomes, Darke claimed that the ‘red card should be rescinded’ and that ‘the injury was just a horrible accident’.

Indeed, these seem to be contrasting opinions on two challenges which were similar to Darke both in terms of not having any intent to hurt the opponent, yet he has claimed that two different outcomes should have been made on them.
Everton fan reaction to Darke claim
These members of the Goodison Park faithful have lashed out at the claim made by Darke, with one Toffees supporter claiming that it is ‘outrageous’:
