Some Everton fans have slammed former player Johnny Heitinga after a throwback tweet was posted by The Toffee Blues giving information on their ex-man.
Indeed, the 36-year old made 140 appearances for the Merseyside club in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing five assists, according to Transfermarkt. He also went on to play in the Premier League for Fulham, and featured in the UEFA Champions League for both Ajax and Atletico Madrid. The Dutch international managed an impressive 87 senior caps for his native country, scoring seven times, as per the website.
Despite his credentials, some Toffees slammed Heitinga for his time at the club. It has been claimed that he never succeeded in perhaps unfamiliar positions to his natural centre-back role, as seen below. Indeed, Heitinga played 35 times as a defensive-midfielder and twice as a right-back during his time with the Blues, as per Transfermarkt.
It should also be noted that Heitinga was voted EFC’s player of the season back in 2012. Nevertheless, these supporters slammed their former man:
Had one good season otherwise poor. Was a better centre back than right back

The only stat’ that counts: 0 trophies or medals

Technically a good player but just had zero pace, which made Premier league life very hard for him. Should never have set foot in centre mid. Was very good the year he won our POTY at CB but average at best the rest of his time

Good but nothing special. Poor at rb and cm but good at cb.

Likeable person but a very poor defender.
