Responding to an article by the Athletic journalist Greg O’Keeffe, Everton supporters haven’t held back in their criticism of Toffees midfielder Fabian Delph following the near six month anniversary of when he first signed at Goodison Park.
Delph, who was part of the famed Manchester City Centurions side which went on to break the overall Premier League points record with 100, left the Sky Blues in pursuit of more game time – resulting in the Englishman signing for Everton last summer in a £10 million deal.
However, since moving to Merseyside, Delph hasn’t exactly recaptured that 2017/2018 form – suffering from injury issues as well as increasing competition for a place in midfield. In comparison to his teammates in the middle of the park, the 30-year-old has bettered the likes of Tom Davies and Gylfi Sigurdsson with his passing – accumulating an 86% success rate whilst averaging 43.5 per game, as per WhoScored.com.
Regardless, some Toffees supporters still do not rate the player, with a section of them booing Delph when he was brought on as a substitute against Brighton last weekend – perhaps having something to do with the fact he argued with fans on Instagram (via Sport Bible) over player performances during the Merseyside derby.
By comparison, Delph has not impressed when compared to other Toffees-City links such as Gareth Barry – with the latter midfielder having gone on to rack up 155 appearances for Everton (Transfermarkt). Here’s how they slated the signing on Twitter, with one fan dismissing the 30-year-old as a “coattail rider”:

He’s just not that good is he, and not very present either. Strong mitigation of there largely being no Gomes or Gbamin to work with.
