Everton: Fans want Gylfi Sigurdsson to be sold in January

Everton fans have been pleading to the club to sell Gylfi Sigurdsson after a string of poor performances in recent months.

The 30-year-old has been criticised for his performances last season and during the current campaign, particularly during their 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday.

Despite a glittering start to his Goodison Park career, his noticeable decline has meant that the Goodison Park faithful are running out of patience with the man who joined from Swansea City for £45m in 2017.

With his contract set to expire in 2022, there is plenty of time for the Iceland skipper to regain the form that made fans appreciate him in the first place, but that seems like nothing more than a distant memory.

Supporters have had enough of the Icelandic midfielder and made their feelings clear on social media.

Here you will find some of the best comments from Everton fans:

Journalism graduate from the University of Chester. Joined Transfer Tavern in October 2020. Liverpool fan based in the north-west who will not hear a bad word said about Lucas Leiva. Gained experience with Manchester Futsal Club and 90MIN. Strongly disapproves of short corners and foul throws.
