Many Everton fans have been lauding a goal that was scored by Rhys Hughes in their U23s game versus Liverpool on Monday evening, leading one supporter to anoint him a ‘generational talent‘.
As per a clip shared by the official Twitter page of the Goodison Park faithful, the Wales U17 international scored within the very first minute of the match after some nice build-up play followed by a neat finish into the bottom corner out of the reach of the goalkeeper.
Will Everton win a trophy this season?
That was the first goal that Hughes has scored so far for the U23s in the 2020/21 term, coupled up with the three assists that he has got in 11 appearances in the Premier League 2 (Transfermarkt).
Even if it was just a U23s clash, several Toffees were happy to see their young players firing, especially against their Merseyside rivals.
Everton fan reaction to Hughes goal
These Blues supporters lauded the goal by Hughes on Twitter, with one EFC fan describing it as ‘fantastic’ and another even going as far to call him a ‘generational talent’:
“Generational talent omds”
“Fantastic, if hope the first team can replicate this.”
