Everton: James Rodriguez let Carlo Ancelotti down versus Burnley

James Rodriguez did not have the best of performances for Everton versus Burnley in their 1-1 draw away at Sean Dyche’s team in the Premier League.
The Colombia international was accused of being a ‘liability’ by talkSPORT scout David Connelly, and based on the statistics from his display at Turf Moor, he has pretty much hit the nail on the head.
Rodriguez did not help out enough
Rodriguez did not help his teammates out enough out of possession, as the former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich star only won a mere 30% of his duels in the whole game, and also failed to make any clearances or block any shots (Sofascore).
Will Rodriguez be a success at Everton?
Yes

No

The argument to that would be that he is an attacking player and therefore should not be as relied upon for his defensive work and what he does out of possession.
However, the 29-year old was not great with the ball either, having lost possession no fewer than 16 times in the match, and he also failed to record a single successful dribble or accurate cross (Sofascore).
Rodriguez needs to bulk up his ideas for the next matches ahead, otherwise the Goodison Park faithful and Carlo Ancelotti himself will start to grow increasingly impatient with him after such a superb start to his Goodison career.
