Many Everton fans have been left fuming as a transfer update emerged on Neal Maupay.
As per Sky Sports, Rafa Benitez is now keen on a move to sign the Brighton and Hove Albion striker before the summer window ends, but the Goodison Park faithful remain hamstrung by Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.
Should Everton sign Maupay?
They need to sell players first before they can bring anyone else in, meaning a deal to sign Maupay may prove difficult.
Although he has two goals in two games in the Premier League so far in the 2021/22 season (Transfermarkt), the Frenchman has not always been the most prolific, managing just eight strikes in 33 matches in the top flight last term compared with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s 16 (Whoscored).
There have also been some concerns about his attitude in the past (The Daily Mail), which may not sit well with some supporters of the Merseyside club.
Everton fans on Maupay transfer update
These Toffees fumed as the transfer update was shared on Twitter:
“The worst striker in history”
“I’d rather have Marcus Bent back.”
“He’s average at best and I cant stand him”
