Responding to a tweet from the Athletic journalist Greg O’Keeffe, Everton supporters have been in full debate over midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin’s injury problems as the Mainz 05 summer signing is yet to play more than 135 minutes for the club and will need more surgery before his return, as per the Liverpool Echo [13:09]
The Ivorian midfielder, part of Marcel Brands’ wave of summer recruitment in 2019, has featured the least out of all his signings – with a niggling thigh injury keeping him out of action. Gbamin has also suffered two setbacks since his initial injury, according to O’Keeffe, with the journalist hinting that serious questions need to be asked surrounding his recovery.
Compared to current midfield starters Fabian Delph and Tom Davies, Gbamin made the same amount of tackles on average as Delph has this season for Mainz in 2018/2019 (1.6) whilst bettering Davies’ pass success completion with an all-round 80.4% rate in the league, as per WhoScored.com.
Taking this into account, Gbamin could potentially add some defensive midfield reinforcement – resulting in supporters debating the circumstances surrounding his lengthy spell on the sidelines on Twitter. Here’s what they had to say.

not about Gbamin. About how his injury has been handled by the medical team.

I wonder has it been handled badly by the medical staff and doctors or is the injury really that bad
