According to Portuguese media outlet A Bola, Everton are interested in securing a deal for Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Semedo with the Toffees fans here in the Transfer Tavern hoping he’ll be another inspired Ronald Koeman signing.
Over the summer, Koeman came in from Southampton and was afforded the chance to spend some of the club’s new money with their new backers which he duly took up.
The likes of Ashley Williams, Yannick Bolasie and Idrissa Gueye all came onto the scene on Merseyside and have featured heavily in the side since.
With this factor in mind, the Everton fans want to see Semedo join too as they feel Koeman is a good judge of players and the central defender certainly seems to have some pedigree.
At 22, he is well cemented in Sporting Lisbon’s first team having played seven league games whilst he also has Champions League experience, playing as recently as the game against Borussia Dortmund earlier this week to ensure he has featured in every game of the competition this season.
He would likely be seen as the long term replacement for John Stones who moved to Manchester City in the summer, with both Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka in their 30’s.
