Everton fans are licking their lips here in the Football Transfer Tavern as Sky Sports report that they are set to sign Aaron Lennon.
The Tottenham Hotspur winger has turned down both Hull City and Stoke City to join the Toffees on loan after it became very clear that he had no future at White Hart Lane under Mauricio Pochettino.
As one of our punters notes, that loan signing is a huge coup for Everton and their manager Roberto Martinez and right in time for the Merseyside derby against bitter rivals Liverpool too.
The deal is initially only a loan but according to the in-the-know Jim White, there will be an option to buy the winger come the end of the season if all goes well.
Not only that but we think that there could well be an exit for Kevin Mirallas who has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park – and to Spurs no less.
As our landlord notes, anything can happen on deadline day and whilst it seems that only Lennon will be arriving and no one will be leaving, we are waiting on the edge of our seats to see what happens before the window slams shut at 11pm.
