According to an update from BBC Breakfast, charity fundraiser and Everton fan Michael Cullen is nearing the end of his 1,000 mile trek from John O’Groats to Land’s End having ‘smashed‘ his target of £250,000 – prompting waves of fellow Toffees to show their support for the cause.
Cullen, otherwise known as ‘Speedo Mick’, embarked on the 1,000 mile journey in nothing but his trunks back on the 6th December, with the quest taking nearly three months to complete. Now, according to a recent BBC update, Speedo Mick has smashed his £250,000 target for his own charity ‘Leave the Light On’ – which takes a main focus on deprived areas throughout the country whilst putting particular emphasis on mental health and positivity.
As a result, the charity fundraising man has been at the centre of a hero’s welcome as he edges near home – with Everton football club personally coming out to congratulate the 55-year-old on his stellar achievement.
