Tom Davies captained England U21s to victory over Turkey in their opening U21 Euro qualifier on Friday evening.
A brace from Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson’s winner were enough to secure victory for the Young Lions despite Turkey’s two strikes, which came either side of half time.
Though naturally, it was Davies that Everton fans were focusing on following the triumph:

Hearing that the 21-year-old had skippered his side to victory had some people wondering why Davies doesn’t get to see more action at club level.
The academy graduate has played just 11 minutes of competitive club football in all competitions this season, having come on for the final 11 minutes of the season-opening 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace, as per Transfermarkt.
Outside of that game, he has been on the bench twice and was completely left out of the squad on two other occasions, including the Carabao Cup win against Lincoln City.
