According to The Sun, Liverpool and Everton are set to face off with one another over the potential signing of Gustavo Viera, with our resident Reds fans here in the Transfer Tavern hoping they can get the jump on their bitter local rivals.
The two sides have reportedly been scouting the youngster who is based in Uruguay with his club team, named confusingly enough, Liverpool.
The young player has represented his national team, Uruguay, at under 17 level though he also has a European passport and that could mean that getting him to sign for a club in this country or indeed continent could be easier than other young prodigies from South America.
He has been training with the Uruguayan Liverpool’s first team thanks to an impressive run of goal-scoring form in the youth side there and could be the next big thing to come to the Northern Hemisphere.
Our local Reds fans here in the Transfer Tavern hope they can snap him up, especially with having Jurgen Klopp as their manager. One said: “Klopp’s done wonders with many of our players who we didn’t think could improve so the thought of him working with one that should only get better is a rather exciting prospect.”
