Everton: Toffees eyeing Tariq Lamptey transfer swoop

Everton are reportedly eyeing a transfer swoop for Tariq Lamptey from Brighton and Hove Albion.

That is according to the Liverpool Echo, who report that he is on the radar of the Merseyside club and has admirers at Goodison Park.

However, as per the news outlet, Graham Potter’s team are likely to demand a transfer fee of around £30m to sign him, and Carlo Ancelotti would reportedly prefer to sign a taller right-back.

Everton should sign Lamptey

Even if he is on the smaller side, the Toffees should try and sign Lamptey. The 20-year-old is at a very good age and could be an ideal successor to the ageing captain Seamus Coleman.

Former Premier League striker now pundit Noel Whelan described him as a ‘very exciting’ player back in January, and it is very easy to see why given some of his previous displays in the top flight so far in the 2020/21 term.

The Englishman has won no fewer than 5.7 of his duels a game in the division this season, as well as averaging 1.7 interceptions, 1,5 tackles and 1.2 successful dribbles per match (Sofascore).

Nonetheless, Lamptey would be a shrewd signing by the Blues should they be able to get a deal over the line in the summer.
