Everton surprised two fans from USA on their first ever visit to Goodison Park. The two young men who co-host the ‘USA Toffee Pod’ podcast were unexpectedly met by ex-goalkeeper Tim Howard. Fans are applauding the club for the gesture and others reflecting on Howard’s time in Merseyside.
Alex Johnson and James Boyman of the Everton-based podcast ‘USA Toffee Pod’ enjoyed their first ever visit to their club’s home ground, accompanied by club legend Tim Howard. The former Everton shot-stopper snuck up on the pair as they were giving an interview on the pitch (via EvertonInUSA).
“I’m a fan, I love this club,” Howard told Alex and James as they chatted in the sun. Everton fans from both the UK and US are in awe of the club’s gesture and are hoping for a ‘Tim Howard special’ on the podcast.
Howard, now 40-years-old, spent nine years with the Blues after he joined on loan from Manchester United in 2006. He made over 300 league appearances for Everton and is probably most famously known for the goal he scored against Bolton from his own box.
Fans are reminiscing on Howard’s time at the club, with one US supporter claiming he is the reason they support the Toffees.
