Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are reacting excitedly to news from the continent, where a prime target of there’s has left the door wide open for a move to Old Trafford.
TalkSport run with quotes from Bayer Leverkusen ace Hakan Calhanoglu, where he said it ‘would be difficult’ to turn down an approach from Manchester United or Barcelona.
“Barcelona and Manchester United are huge clubs. It would be difficult to turn them down but I have not said anything about transfers or anything of the sort.”
“I have not said anything and there is nothing to talk about but of course if Barcelona made an offer I would have to consider it.”
Punters at the bar are concerned that the player’s comments have suggested he is more open to a switch to Barcelona but are relatively relaxed knowing that the Catalan giants have financial issues and would not be able to sanction a move in January.
United’s strongest competition could come from Premier League rivals Arsenal and a move in the New Year is likely if either side offers the demanded £29m fee.
