There really can be no words that will help to try and console the Gunners punters here in the bar with their club once again getting battered by Bayern Munich 5-1 last night.
There’s plenty of finger pointing getting done at the moment, too, with Arsene Wenger getting a fair old going over from pundits and fans alike but surely some of his players need to stand up and be counted more?
Indeed, though it has been the argument that Alexis Sanchez is one of the men that actually tries for the club, Sky Sports has revealed that the stats suggest that is well wide of the mark.
In fact, the Chilean has not covered 10km+ once this season compared to the often maligned Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil who have both done such a distance on three occasions each in the Premier League.
Indeed, Sanchez has also dipped. In his first 13 games this season he covered 9.3km on seven occasions but in the last 13? He hasn’t done that once.
Proof, then, that the Chilean deserves a fair deal more criticism than he is getting away with at the moment.
