‘Fabulous news’, ‘Welcome back’ - Man City fans delighted by triple injury update on Twitter

The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are thoroughly expecting their side to claim a first-leg victory when they face FC Basel in the last-sixteen of the Champions League later today.

Pep Guardiola takes his side to Switzerland later today to face an FC Basel side who have already defeated Manchester United on home turf this season. The Swiss side proved they are a side who need to be taken seriously at the end of November when they hosted a late show to record a narrow 1-0 win over the Red Devils at St. Jakob Park.

The Citizens manager will certainly be reminding his players of that result tonight in a bid to ensure there are no signs of complacency from his players. City look certain to lift the Premier League title this season after the results on matchday 27 in the Premier League, so the European competition may well become the clubs priority in the weeks to come.

Although Guardiola is unlikely to be prepared to admit it, City will be hoping, or even expecting that their imperious form across all four competitions will enable them to claim an unprecedented quadruple this season.

With that in mind, City will need the vast majority of their players at full-fitness during the final months of the season if they want to maximise their chances of claiming four trophies, so it’s no wonder the clubs latest fitness update has been greeted with delight by the supporters on Twitter.

According to City’s official Twitter page, Fabian Delph, David Silva and Leroy Sane all trained with the first-team squad yesterday ahead of their trip to Switzerland, and in response to the post, the Citizens faithful were quick to hail the return of the aforementioned players.
