Everton: Fans question Southgate’s snub of Keane

Michael Keane has been an ever-present so far this season as Everton have soared to the top of the Premier League.

The Toffees could hardly have hoped for a better start to the campaign. They have won all four of their opening league games, whilst they are also in the quarter-finals of the League Cup. The defender has played every single minute in all competitions, scoring twice along the way.

His form saw him receive a call-up to the England squad for the matches against Wales, Belgium and Denmark. However, whilst he started against the Welsh as the Three Lions won 3-0, he was not even included in the matchday squad for the Belgium clash.

Gareth Southgate’s men won 2-1 versus the Red Devils, but they made hard work of things in the first half. Eric Dier, in particular, struggled, giving away a penalty after a foul on Romelu Lukaku. It was this mistake, and the Tottenham man’s overall display, that had many fans perplexed as to why he was selected over Everton’s own 27-year-old defender.

They took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the matter.
