Following Lucas Digne’s red card against Southampton on Sunday, Niels Nkounkou may have the chance to start against Newcastle United next weekend.
Digne was sent off against the Saints for a nasty tackle, albeit accidental, on Kyle Walker-Peters. It capped off a terrible day at the office for the Toffees, with them losing their first match of the season as James Ward-Prowse and Che Adams scored in a 2-0 victory for the South coast side.

Nkounkou joined from Marseille during the off-season, and has already made three appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, although all in the League Cup. So far, Everton are still in the competition having reached the quarter-finals, so he certainly has played a positive role in the campaign.

With Digne likely to be unavailable next weekend, many Everton supporters want to see the 19-year-old included in Ancelotti’s starting line-up against Newcastle. They took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
