Rangers money troubles has precipitated their first player departure, but Ger’s fans needn’t worry too much, as the player is little known squad member Matt McKay.
Australian McKay is set to leave for South Korean side Busan I’park, and the Ranger’s website announced “Rangers have confirmed today that a fee has been agreed with Busan but that negotiations on the transfer are still continuing.”
If the deal goes ahead Rangers will recoup the £250,000 they paid for the player, reports Seoul based John Duerden. May not seem like all that much, but in Rangers current situation the club needs all the money it can, and needs decrease the wage bill as quickly as possible.
29 year old McKay has only made 3 performances for Rangers since joining from Australia’s Brisbane Roar in August, and will not be seen as a great loss for the club. But Ranger’s fans may worry that this is just the opening shot of a Ranger fire sale, as many of their more established players may also have to leave.
