Angel Di Maria

You just knew the Real Madrid winger would find his way onto the list. Clearly looking to leave the Bernabeu and someone wo has been linked with a move to United all summer, Di Maria would be the ideal player for Louis van Gaal to add to his wings, providing pace and a quality long forgotten at the club.

Kevin Strootman

Kevin Strootman

Someone Van Gaal knows well from his International days, Strootman is coming back from a serious injury but is someone who would work perfectly in the United midfield. He is a quality addition and would be more than happy to link up with Dutchman Van Gaal and compatriot Robin Van Persie. It might take a bit of persuading but for the right amount of cash, Roma would sell the midfielder.

Sami Khedria

Sami Khedira

Someone who had been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea but who would fill a gaping hole in the middle of the United midfield. Not only would Khedira be perfect for United, he is a winner and would be available at a cut price – especially come January, when Real Madrid would rather be forced into selling him rather than lose him for nothing.

Mehdi Benatia

op defenders – well top players for that matter – are in short supply at Old Trafford and someone who could fit into a back four or indeed the three that Van Gaal favours is Benatia. There is competition from Chelsea but for £30 million, United should get moving and try and bring a world class defender to the club if they want to get back into that top four.

The middle of the park is an area that has been pointed to more than once as a main culprit in the demise of Manchester United. To land a player who understands the Premier League, not to mention who would be available on a free for the next 12 months as Barcelona prepare to loan him out, it seems like a no brainer.
