Sunderland have only recently started to enjoy life back on the football pitch as their long list of problems have been well-documented.
Fans had become enraged with how the club was being run by Ellis Short and had seen a number of managers and players come and go at the Stadium of Light.
They also witnessed the club consistently perform poorly at the bottom of the Premier League table, before suffering back-to-back relegations and end up playing their football in League One.
Chris Coleman was brought in as manager whilst they were trying to sort out the mess they were in during their Championship phase, however, the former Wales boss did not remain for too long.
Having arrived in November 2017 and replacing Simon Grayson as boss, he subsequently left the club in April of this year, with then-owner Short agreeing to ‘release him from his contract’, per the BBC.
Fans were angry that the club had let the Welshman go and shared a number of angry reactions to the news that Coleman would not be remaining at the Stadium of Light.

I find the decision to sack Coleman a very strange one, he could at least have been give the chance to rebuild the club in the lower tier. Who exactly does Bain think he can get who’d be a better candidate?! Our club has become a complete and utter joke #SAFC #Sunderland #coleman

However, without his decision to leave the club, the Black Cats may not have found themselves in the position that they are currently in.
Jack Ross has since been placed in charge of the ship in the north east and looks to have steadied things immensely for the Wearsiders.
Sunderland find themselves second in League One and look to be one of the favourites to head back to the Championship at the first time of asking.
With Stewart Donald at the helm of the club at the boardroom level, the off the field mess also appears to getting sorted, with the likes of Didier Ndong and Papy Djilobodji both being wiped from their wage bill.
Despite their frustrations and angry remarks in April about Coleman’s departure, the move would not have allowed Ross to come in and bring the solid footballing performances and the good times the Wearside outfit so deserve.
