It is no exaggeration to say that many Liverpool fans see Steven Gerrard as the club’s greatest ever player.
The midfielder played over 700 games for Liverpool, picking up two FA Cups, three League Cups, and of course the Champions League in 2005.
Gerrard spearheaded the comeback in that iconic European win in Istanbul in 2005, and etched his name into the Liverpool history books in the process.
Therefore, in 2015, when the 114-cap England international announced that he would be leaving Anfield at the end of that season, the reaction was huge from the Liverpool faithful. This was the man that had been at the forefront of so many great moments for the club, and fans flooded Twitter to show their adulation for the man.
Very few players have ever had such an impact at one club, and fans showed their appreciation for the one-club legend.
