Flashback: When Tottenham ended their Stamford Bridge curse

Tottenham Hotspur will meet Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening once the Premier League season returns to action.

The final international break of 2018 has been completed and Mauricio Pochettino will be keen to get his side back into action as they look to continue their best ever start to a top-flight season.

However, they will come up against one of the three unbeaten teams left in the division when they host Chelsea and Maurizio Sarri at the National Stadium this weekend.

Spurs have not always had the best record when it comes to playing their London rivals, however, they could look to replicate the performance of the last time they met in the Premier League.

The two sides met at Stamford Bridge on April Fool’s Day in 2018 and Pochettino’s team finally managed to put to bed a 28-year record of being unable to pick up a victory in the west London outfit’s backyard.

Tottenham put in an impressive performance against the Blues and managed to dominate their opponents in a 3-1 victory, where Dele Alli grabbed a brace after Christian Eriksen drew them level following an Alvaro Morata opener.

Fans were understandably ecstatic with the result and shared their reactions on Twitter…

Now, Tottenham will look to repeat that victory and inflict Sarri’s first league defeat as Chelsea boss on Saturday evening.

A win would lift them above the Blues into third and would certainly give them the confidence and momentum going into their Champions League tie with Inter Milan and also their north London derby with Arsenal.
