Liverpool appear to be easing off on the pitch after having already secured the Premier League title.
Since sealing the title in emphatic fashion by thrashing newly crowned Europa League champions Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 at Anfield last month, Arne Slot’s side have gone winless in the Premier League. They’ve suffered defeats to Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion and were held to a draw by Arsenal.
Several Liverpool players have since been pictured enjoying holidays and some well-earned rest. But while things have quieted down on the pitch, behind the scenes, the Reds are working tirelessly to prepare for next season.
The club has reportedly already sealed a deal for Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong to replace the Real Madrid-bound Trent Alexander-Arnold. Bournemouth’s breakout star Milos Kerkez is also said to be close to joining after a stellar debut season in the Premier League.
Now, the Reds are understood to be eyeing an even bigger signing — Frimpong’s Leverkusen teammate, Florian Wirtz.
Wirtz House-Hunting in Liverpool

Wirtz has established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting playmakers over the past two seasons, playing a key role in Leverkusen’s historic unbeaten Bundesliga title-winning campaign.
Naturally, he has attracted interest from several of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich — and Liverpool.
With both Madrid and City now reportedly out of the race, the door is open for Wirtz to either join Bayern or follow Frimpong to Anfield.
According to BILD reporter Christian Falk, Liverpool may already have the upper hand — with Wirtz reportedly house-hunting on Merseyside.
“There is a bit of fear inside Bayern around Liverpool,” Falk told CF Bayern Insider. “We heard that Florian was already house-hunting in Liverpool.”
Falk added that Bayern still believe they have the edge in the long-term, thanks to a verbal agreement with the player’s camp.
“The family is playing this transfer game quite openly; they’re telling Bayern what they’re doing with Liverpool, and they’re telling Liverpool what they’re doing with Bayern Munich,” he said.
Leverkusen are said to be demanding as much as £126.1 million for Wirtz — a fee Bayern reportedly won’t meet, having offered just £84 million so far.
If Liverpool are willing to slap nine figures on the table, Wirtz could be theirs.
