The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are getting more and more excited by the day for the season ahead as their transfer window has got off to a flying start.
While the additions of Fabinho and Naby Keita being very exciting for the Reds fans, though, their main aim of improving their goalkeeper is still yet to happen. After identifying a range of targets, are punters are intrigued to see why Geronimo Rulli (who is valued at £9 million on Transfer Markt) isn’t a man they seem to be after.
The 26-year-old currently plays for Spanish outfit Real Sociedad, where he has been ever since 2014. Rulli, up until last year was on Manchester City’s books, proving that his talent is also recognised by other English sides. Rulli last season managed to keep 10 clean sheets in 34 appearances, showing that he is a big part of the Spanish team and would be a big loss.
Liverpool now seem to be running out of options for someone to be their new goalkeeper with Alisson reportedly not likely anymore, so why not turn to Geronimo Rulli? After Karius and Mignolet alike have made mistakes this past season, the Reds will be determined to find a long-term solution for a shot-stopper to be their number one for years to come.
Rulli is a commanding figure, one that’s good with his feet and a player that could be a smart addition by Jurgen Klopp in the hope of success arriving at Anfield next season. The 26-year-old could be seen as a risky option but he fills his box and team-mates around him with confidence, making him a potentially good goalkeeper for Liverpool.
