Jose Mourinho is hoping to improve on Manchester United’s disappointing sixth place last season and the United fans in the Transfer Tavern still want to see more recruitments ahead of the new season.

The Red Devils’ main signings this season have been Victor Lindelof, Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku and the hope is that the new spine will yield results.

Eric Dier is another central midfielder linked with Old Trafford- by the Manchester Evening News. And Mourinho’s side have been boosted by Mauricio Pochettino’s refusal to rule out a move for the England international.

United have been tracking Dier for some time. The 23 year-old is believed to be open to a move, but United have up until now received little encouragement from Spurs.

Mourinho’s side are already well-supplied with central midfielders, though, and signing Dier would be a waste.

MARCO ASENSIO

The Real Madrid youngster emerged as an exciting prospect for La Liga giants last season and has all the attributes to be a star for years to come.

Asensio, 21, is tall, has superb vision, dribbling, passing and ball control. The winger made just 11 starts in the league last term for Zinedine Zidane’s side as he unfortunately has Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo to compete with.

CHRISTIAN PULISIC

The Borussia Dortmund winger has been linked with a move to Liverpool as a potential replacement for Philippe Coutinho – by Bleacher Report, but there’s still time for Jose Mourinho to lure him to Old Trafford.

At 5ft 8″, the diminutive Pulisic is a modern-day number 10. His low centre of gravity makes him elusive for opposition players and he has the talent to go with it.

The 18-year-old scored 3 and assisted 6 in his 15 starts for Dortmund last season.
