The Toffees have had a season to forget in many respects after producing one of their worst starts to a Premier League campaign, as many of our local Evertonians believed that the club were heading for the Championship. Although, appointing Sam Allardyce as Ronald Koeman’s successor has turned out to be a smart move, as Everton are now sitting pretty in mid-table.
However, many of their problems so far this season have been caused by defensive issues, as the likes of Ashley Williams, Cuco Martina and Michael Keane have struggled to grind out performances. So, it appears that the Blues are looking to bring in one of Manchester United’s wasted talents, as Luke Shaw is being linked with a move to Goodison Park in the summer.
Although, this doesn’t look to be a smart decision for the club moving forward, as the Englishman has struggled for minutes so far this season at United and is always liable to sustaining an injury. So, here’s a look at TWO promising defenders that Everton should look to sign instead…
Ben Mee
Ben Mee currently plays his football at Turf Moor for English Premier League side Burnley, and has established himself as one of the best defenders in the top-flight after an incredible season with the Clarets.
Indeed, the 28-year-old has only just started to live up to his full potential in the current campaign, after producing some world-class performances as one of the main reasons behind their superb season.
Therefore, Everton should look to bring Mee to the club in the summer transfer window as proven talent, with plenty of years still left in his career.

Djibril Sidibe is another one of AS Monaco’s special talents after a couple of outstanding seasons in the French Ligue 1, as one of the world’s most promising full-backs.
Indeed, the Toffees could definitely benefit from the Frenchman’s service in the future, as he’s provided eight assists for his teammates as well as scoring three goals of his own.
Therefore, Everton should look to bring the defender to Goodison Park in the summer months, as a direct replacement for the ineffective Cuco Martina.
