Gareth Barry and Oliver Burke should never play for West Brom again

The Hawthorns

West Bromwich Albion currently find themselves just outside of the play-off places after a mixed start to proceedings in the Championship.

The Baggies are yet to hit the heights that many thought they would under Darren Moore in the Championship, but the recent signs have certainly been promising. Indeed, the Midlands club will be up there come the end of the season and have one of the strongest squads in the division, so they now just need to ensure consistency.

However, the West Brom boss will need to think about the futures of a couple of his players as he can’t afford to be carrying any deadweight in what is a star-studded Championship squad.

With that in mind, here’s a look at TWO men that should never feature for West Bromwich Albion again…

Gareth Barry

The experienced midfielder is coming towards the end of his career and this has been evident in his performances so far this season. Indeed, the 37-year-old has only managed to enjoy 20 minutes of game time in the Championship, with Darren Moore turning to Chris Brunt and Jake Livermore instead.

Therefore, the former Everton central midfielder could struggle to feature again for the Baggies unless an injury occurs to one of Moore’s star midfielders, with a January transfer window exit looking like a possibility.

Oliver Burke

Oliver Burke was once one of the most promising prospects in English football during his time at Championship side Nottingham Forest, but times have changed since then and he’s now struggling for minutes at the Hawthorns.

Indeed, the 21-year-old featured for 14 minutes on the opening day of the Baggies’ Championship campaign against Bolton Wanderers. However, he has failed to feature in the league since then despite making it onto the substitutes’ bench in all of their fixtures.

So, the Midlands club should definitely look to offload him in the January transfer window due to his inability to live up to expectations, as they could receive a healthy sum for him at this stage of his career with plenty of progression still yet to be had.
