Late on Tuesday, STV revealed that Glasgow Rangers will only pay £3m instead of the €5m (£4.5m) that has been rumoured for Ianis Hagi.
The deal is almost complete, with Hagi’s current club Genk posting confirmation of the transfer on their website before taking it down immediately after.

The Gers were said to have a €5m (£4.5m) purchase option in the loan agreement that saw him move to Ibrox, but by the looks of it, Ross Wilson has been able to agree a 33% reduction.
Since making the switch, there have already been flashes of the 21-year-old’s talent on show. Against Braga, for example, in the first leg of the Gers’ Europa League round of 32 tie, the Romania international scored a brace as his side came back from 2-0 to win 3-2 (BBC Sport).
Given he already has 10 caps for his country, scored twice at the U21 European Championships last summer and has already appeared in the Champions League, £4.5m would have already represented a good deal anyway for the Gers, especially when you add on interest from the likes of Sevilla (AS via The Daily Record) and Lazio.

To get him for a rumoured £3m, which will also be paid in two installments, is fantastic business – Ross Wilson deserves a statue for being able to negotiate that kind of fee for a young talent who is already showing plenty of promise. Now, it is up to Steven Gerrard and the player to show just how much of a steal this could be.
