Glasgow Rangers: Fans wax lyrical about Carlos Cuellar

Carlos Cuellar only spent a single season at Glasgow Rangers but, judging by the comments from some ‘Gers fans, it is fair to say he made quite the impression.

The Spaniard made the switch to Ibrox ahead of the 2007/08 campaign, which would prove to be a successful one for the ‘Gers as they won both domestic cup competitions and reached the final of the UEFA Cup. During that season, Cuellar made no fewer than 55 appearances, scoring four goals – his joint-highest scoring tally for any club.

As per Transfermarkt, he cost them £2.7m, which proved to be money well spent. On Thursday it was the 12th anniversary of that European final, which they unfortunately lost against Zenit St. Petersburg. To mark the occasion, Cuellar retweeted a photo of the starting XI that day, which led to many ‘Gers fans reminiscing about just how good a player he was for them – one supporter even called him an “absolute warrior”.
