Glasgow Rangers failed to force through the investigation into the SPFL they so clearly desired at the Emergency General Meeting (EGM) on Tuesday.
The ‘Gers had accused the governing body of corruption and even produced a 200-page dossier to prove as much. However, they failed to persuade most of the clubs in the top four tiers that there needs to be a probe into the authority, with only 12 other teams siding with them on the day.

Neil Doncaster is the SPFL’s chief and he has come in for plenty of criticism from some of the club’s supporters. Following the EGM decision, he said that now is the time to “heal divisions” and bring people together.
