Glasgow Rangers: Fans disgusted by Sunday Mail article

The aftermath of the Emergency General Meeting continues to rumble on, with Glasgow Rangers right at the very centre of it.

The Gers, of course, attempted to see an independent investigation carried out into the SPFL, but in the end only 12 other sides backed their proposal – 27 other teams voted against the idea.

There are plenty of clubs, though, who feel shafted by the goings on of the past few weeks. One of those are Hearts, who are set to be relegated if the Scottish Premiership is finished as it is. Reconstruction of the Scottish footballing pyramid appeared to be an important part of the discussion a few weeks ago, but it was soon taken off the table – that has led to Hearts owner Ann Budge working on a document for another reconstruction proposal.

The Sunday Mail decided to cover a story where Budge was warned not to start another war in Scottish football, and they decided to use an image of a bloody knife ripping through the badges of Hearts and Partick Thistle. The latter released a statement condemning the design, and it seems that even the Gers fans are disgusted by the back page – one supporter even called it “horrendous”. They have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts, and you can see some of the best comments from the social media platform below.

It’s horrendous that football has come to this. The game has been ruined. Fans more worried about results in the boardroom than the result of matches. Football used to be decided on the pitch. Not anymore.
